Website and software scope

You may browse these pages for lawful informational purposes. Do not interfere with the site, attempt unauthorized access, misuse its branding, or misrepresent this material as a commitment Skilak LLC has not made.

The software is free for personal, non-commercial individual use and for non-production evaluation, development, testing, and research. Any use in connection with commercial activity, and any production use by or for an organization, requires a separate commercial license.

Downloaded software is not licensed by this summary. The repository's LICENSE file applies the Business Source License 1.1 and governs source-available use unless a signed commercial agreement applies.

When a commercial license is needed

• Protecting production AI traffic for a company, school, nonprofit, or public agency.
• Running Mesh as part of a commercial service or managed platform.
• Embedding or hosting the licensed work in a product delivered to customers.
• Using Mesh in paid advisory, freelance, or other revenue-generating individual work.

Your deployment responsibilities

Mesh is self-hosted. You are responsible for lawful provider access, credentials, policy configuration, user notices, retention, backups, network controls, and compliance obligations in your environment.

Detection has documented limits and false-positive and false-negative tradeoffs. Do not treat the product or this site as a guarantee that every sensitive value will be identified.

Acceptable use

You may not use the software to conduct, facilitate, or conceal unlawful activity; to circumvent security or access controls on systems you are not authorized to test; in violation of export control, sanctions, or trade laws; to process data you lack authorization to process; or to reverse engineer or defeat any licensing or entitlement mechanism in the software.

You may test the security of deployments you own or operate. That permission does not extend to defeating the licensing mechanism, to testing Skilak LLC's own systems, or to testing another party's deployment without their authorization.

Regulatory disclaimer

Skilak Mesh is a self-hosted software tool and does not guarantee complete identification or redaction of Protected Health Information (PHI) or other regulated data. Skilak LLC is not a HIPAA compliance certification provider, does not act as a Business Associate, and does not execute Business Associate Agreements for self-hosted deployments. The operator of the software assumes sole responsibility for compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and all other applicable data privacy regulations.

Warranties, liability, and governing law

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "WITH ALL FAULTS." SKILAK LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL SKILAK LLC BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO SKILAK LLC FOR THE SOFTWARE DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $0 IF THE SOFTWARE WAS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.

This agreement and any dispute arising out of or related to it are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. The parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Missouri. By downloading, installing, or operating the Skilak Mesh software, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Where a signed commercial agreement exists, it controls over this summary. Material software-license changes are governed by the applicable license version and any signed agreement, not by an unannounced website edit.
